Trusted colleagues definitely talked about it today. I would not talk about it with anyone I don’t already have a high level of trust with as I don’t feel it would be helpful or productive to do so.
Our CEO sent an email. Basically a, “some are celebrating, some our morning, we don’t know what the future will look like but we will continue to do the work we are here to do in the best way we can.” We’re a nonprofit with significant federal funding.
Just remember half the voting population of the country selected this outcome. People are silently celebrating and mourning simultaneously.
I wouldn't assume that. I am in two Black Women's professional groups, but the members are anonymous. In both groups, someone posted that they didn't vote for Kamala and that they were happy about the outcome of the presidential election. So, there are a lot of people telling us to our faces that they support us, but behind our backs, they do not. I just wish the right would be upfront and say, we like women and Black people for their usefulness but we don't recognize their humanity.

What did you expect people at work to say?

No. That would start a political conversation, which is inappropriate at work. Lots of people, women included, are conservatives, while others are liberals. Best keep your political opinions and views to yourself rather than stirring things up at work.
My wife is a college professor and half of her students called out, so she cancelled class since they had an exam and she didn’t want half of the class to fail.
Some sh*tbag parent called the school and complained that their professors are too political and cancelling classes to cry over the election. So, my wife’s dept is making her formally apologize to her class on Monday for “putting her political agenda” before the well-being of the class.
Obviously, that’s absurd; she did the right thing — a half empty class isn’t productive and failing half of them is unnecessarily punitive.
Her dept and university is spineless, though. It’s a private school, so “the customer is always right.” Seriously, though, no one is getting a quality education at Elon U. They’ve also complained that she taught them about indigenous assimilation because it hurt their feelings.
Point being, companies don’t see the humans, just the $$$$.
My company endorsed his tax plan because it makes them more money. Nothing extra in my paycheck though.

Ok well if they communicated and there was a mutual agreement that’s fine lol. I personally wouldn’t call out and would rather get the test over with but that’s just me.
Politics shouldn't be discussed at work
Maybe the boss told people to shut it down about talking about politics? Regardless- It's still not appropriate for your colleagues or peers to talk about your feelings regarding the outcome of the election. There is a good chance that there are a handful of people that work with you that might be happy about the election. If you are having trouble it would be best for you to talk to your friends, family or doctor.
Girl wayyyy too many women voted for a r*pist and are actually celebrating the win. It’s disgusting but people with brains are in the minority here so don’t expect much out of Americans and America. In fact, just accept the worst.
Keep politics and business separate.
Because he said congratulations to the winner? Lol
Women are women’s greatest enemies.. we will never progress as long as we keep internalized misogyny alive.. I wish everything they asked for 10 fold
Profit over people.
At this point, I’m not shocked of the lack of internal notes about the election at my company. Crickets about the major fire in Hawaii, nothing about the train wrecks in Ohio, hardly any coverage about hurricane impacts. And these were in our footprint. Wait. I did see one thing about the hurricane- it was nearly a week after it ended.
However, we have seen powerful responses to businesses that speak to politic-related topics. Budweiser has had to close plants. Target has had to adjust mission critical shopping experiences. Chick-fil-a has seen impacts. Nike has had whiplash. And most of this stems from top level leadership posts.
I think we are all tired of the ways that try to separate people from each other. We are tired of the political ads. We are tired of all the layoffs. We are tired of the word-salad landlines that could loose our source of income. We just want to work, get paid, and then go home to our families. And hopefully, our salaries will allow us to be above inflation on food and housing.
You have a group of people that are at the bottom of the Maslow hierarchy of needs = focused on necessities: food, water, shelter. We don’t have the energy for anything more right now.
Why would a corporation have an opinion to share on the election? If they I would be worried.
My company addressed Jan 6th, and their cult leader who provoked that day now has full authority.. He has everything he needs to be a dictator. Everyone is just appalled that DEI, women’s equality clubs are quite.
