I was out to lunch with a few friends and we were all talking about our jobs, specifically the period right after the interview and verbal offer. I was given a copy of my offer letter at on-boarding, so there were no concerns.

One friend said that she started with a company and didn't get anything in writing, but she agreed to the verbal offer. I told her that I wouldn't work one minute without one. What do you think?

I try to do side-projects in my free time to improve my coding skills. However, I rarely stay motivated to finish them. How do you motivate yourselves to build technical skills in your free time?
