I was working for a company for 11 years and was let go due to restructuring (bad economy). That was almost a year ago and I'm still looking for work. I've applied for hundreds of jobs and had a few interviews but no takers. I've taken online classes to improve my qualifications and still nothing. It's extremely frustrating and depressing. The worst part is that I know I'm not the only one struggling to find work.

Help,I started a new career n the events industry and I think I have to quit! The person I report to is so disorganized and there are no other managers in the office to direct day to day operations of our department. On day 2 I was asked to go to a job site and perform a 12 hour day without any training, safety equipment or tools. On day 3 I was asked back to site to do general labor! I ended cutting my hand on an exacto knife and there was no first aid! Is this normal?

Fishers, any tip to apply and ace for a role that you have zero experience? I have more than 10 years of experience as EA and want to move to OM/admin manager role however most companies only hire those with minimal 3-5 years of experiences.

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

Hi- I’m an hourly AA, been on the role for 6 months now and it’s my first AA job. I did not get a raise when I took the job because it was technically a demotion ( I was a team leader at a contact center). I assist two VPs and now they want to add a third because they’re looking for the “ 3:1 ratio “. Should I ask for a raise? Is this normal?
