I’m not up to date on all of the current recommendations for the AI filters many companies use against resumes (you may want to look into that separately), but 1 thing I do notice is under your Special Projects section, you don’t really list actual projects or anything makes you stand out.
With all of the layoffs in tech, companies get flooded with many “cookie cutter” resumes of people with years of experience in all of the major languages that all can do at least basic scripting and creating websites.
Your special projects section should be a place for you to make yourself stand out. What interesting or innovative websites have you built? What actual data flows have you built that are creative? What can you do that’s better or more efficient than others? Simply listing something like “Database management and querying with SQL for data extraction and organization” is a line that will be on any database admin/data analyst’s resume.
I used AI to improve my resume, but I felt the main issue was that it became too generic. In my opinion, it should have been more impactful. I think what you wrote was exactly what was missing. As I mentioned, I really appreciate your feedback you gave me the perspective I needed.
Since you asked …
This entire resume reads like a generic list.
There is nothing about what YOU have worked on. There are no metrics, context about the problems you solved, the industry/kinds of data you worked with or websites you built (healthcare, financial, education, etc).
Add your linkedin link to the demographic info. Add a professional picture to your LinkedIn account and once you’ve redone the résumé make sure your LinkedIn matches the résumé exactly.
Reorder the resume to:
1. Opening sentence under your name/email/phone that is structured like this:
What you are + for whom do you do it + what impact you have. Use ChatGPT to help you come up with a one liner.
Ex. Entrepreneurial Software Engineer that builds websites for clients across industries to drive visibility, generate leads, and drive revenue.
Because you are bi lingual I would mention that immediately after the opening sentence.
Ex. Self-motivated Computer Scientist with expertise in data, software engineering and website development that helps financial organizations optimize client facing systems to drive profitability. Fluent in Spanish (native) and English.
2. Then the technical skills section.
3. Then the Special Projects section. This section needs a lot more information. Where did you do the special projects? at university? List the name of the organization, the department or course if it was for university. Then you need one or two sentences about the problem you were trying to solve. Goals. Objectives. Constraints. Then the first bullet should be the outcome or the impact you had example improved blah blah report speed by 400%. Then at most two additional bullets about what you did and who you interacted with, how big was the team, how long was the special project.
Do the same thing for the web development special project. Answer the basics for whom did you do this… Example university advanced Web senior project. What was the problem you were trying to solve how many people did you work with or stakeholders involved? What was the industry you were helping example, healthcare, retail, government, etc. did you overcome any special issues?
Ask ChatGPT to interview you about each project and then come up with a résumé summary for each that showcases the problem solved what you did, how long you did it the tools you used, the impact you had, etc.
4 Then list the education section. Add the university name, city, state/province
Remove the years at school.
If you got a minor list it.
Delete the list of courses. It’s redundant.
Then list the certifications.
Good luck. Hope this helps.
Awesome. Yeah I think you are selling yourself short. 😊 If you use AI to help with the resume take special effort to really give it a detailed prompt. Tell it to interview you so you get an awesome resume for a [what ever kind of job you want].
If I was you i would feed the prompt with 3-4 job description for jobs you want but I would do it as follows. For the software engineer résumé feed it three or four different jobs for software engineers that you’ve applied to or you would like to apply to. Then for the web developer job feed it 3-4 Web developer job descriptions and make this very clear in the prompt.
Then in the prompt those are jobs you want. Tell it you want to be interviewed once but for the output, you want it in the template/ order that I specified above and you want one résumé for software engineering that shows you have what they need… and a separate résumé for web development because you think it requires different skills and highlights.
For early career people (less than 4 jobs) it should be on 1 page. Single column.
As you get more experience you can go onto two pages. I forgot to say list the special projects reverse chronological.
And if you were a member of any clubs, sports, non-technical things, worked in the pub at university then have one line for that at the very end of the résumé because sometimes you get your first job when you have something non-work related in common with the person interviewing you.
Hope this helps. The first job is the hardest to get. Good luck. 🍀

Do you have any results you can note? Evidence that’s you’re good at what you do, projects you’ve worked on, etc?
The first project involved web scraping. I used Python to collect data from websites, cleaned and transformed the data through an ETL process, and then performed statistical analysis to identify trends and insights. The second project focused on survey analysis. The survey data was collected outside of Google Forms, so I organized, transformed, and analyzed the responses using Power BI to provide meaningful insights and visualize key findings. The third project involved sales data from multiple pharmacies. I analyzed sales performance, identified trends, and created reports and dashboards using both Power BI and Python. This project required working with large datasets and transforming raw data into actionable business insights. Across all three projects, I worked with datasets ranging from approximately 1,000 to 50,000 records, applying data cleaning. My question is: how should I present everything I did in my resume? I’ve made several versions, but I’m not sure what actually catches people’s attention.
