Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Reading this shook me a bit and I'm deeply sorry that you experienced such a shift in life and your career. I've heard stories like this but never spoke to anyone that experienced it firsthand. No one who dedicates decades to a company should be treated this way. Cope, heal, recover... then maybe write a book to flip your story into someone else's inspiration to keep pushing 🙏
It was a shock was still recovering when they called me and I was lot of pain killers and it was in shock that there was no care as I talked to them on the phone as I was on a lot of pain meds and confused.Post all u can about Topy America and there practice

So sorry about that. I hope you can find something helpful.
In the UK, being fired because you're disabled (or have become disabled) is..... Illegal.
Employers in the UK have to make reasonable adjustments to help you do your job to the best of your ability. In places, and, depending on the disability - that means adapting the workplace to help you navigate it better and ably.
I don't know the extent of your disability, but, unless you're a serious liability to yourself and your colleagues and place of work, this sort of action by an employer would massively contravene the UK Equality Act 2010.
The following is a brief overview and covers EVERY employer, from small business to international corporation that employs anybody, nationwide.
Not only does it protect disability in the workplace but also throughout society.
▶️ The Equality Act 2010 protects people with disabilities from discrimination in various aspects of life, including employment, education, and the provision of goods and services. It defines a disabled person as someone with a physical or mental impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative effect on their ability to carry out normal daily activities.
The Act also requires employers and service providers to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people to ensure they are not disadvantaged.
Key aspects of the Equality Act 2010 related to disability:
Definition of Disability:
The Act defines disability based on the impact of a physical or mental impairment, rather than the nature of the impairment itself.
Protection from Discrimination:
The Act prohibits discrimination, harassment, and victimisation based on disability.
Reasonable Adjustments:
Employers and service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to prevent disabled people from being disadvantaged.
Scope of Protection:
The Act covers various areas, including employment, education, the provision of goods and services, and the exercise of public functions.
Protection for those with past disabilities:
The Act also protects people who have had a disability in the past.
Protection for those with an association with a disabled person:
The Act also protects those who have an association with a disabled person, such as carers or family members.
Examples of discrimination that would be covered by the Equality Act:
Refusing to hire someone because of their disability
Making it difficult for someone to access a building due to a lack of reasonable adjustments
Harassing or bullying someone because of their disability
Not making reasonable adjustments to a person's work environment.
Sorry to hear that. I am recently out of a job after more than a decade of experience and have medical disabilities requiring flexible work accommodations. I am having a challenge finding progressive, flexible, and supportive employers. It is a tough world out there.
