I teach at a private high school, and we don’t do this. But my son’s elementary school - which gets out about 10 days after I finish in-service - does. I always volunteer with all my mom friends. Let the teachers have a break!

Gee, that would be nice! Our teachers are expected to work! I guess if someone didn't want to, they couldn't force us, but we would probably feel the censure!
We have Field Day. Classroom teachers stay with their classes. Specials teachers and ParaPros, who are not 1-1, can choose the game that we want to facilitate via a Google Doc with explanations of each game provided. Ours is all day long and ends with a Teacher game, if you want to participate in it.

I typically have enjoyed it, but so many of our students have been so awful, and then to see them getting free treats and fun all afternoon is a bit disheartening.
I also dislike field day. After two of them, then I started saving one personal day to use so that I am able to get out of it. Since many of our parents are substitutes we don’t lack for people that want to be paid to be there. I’m sure that many kids enjoy the day, but the non athletic kids are often made to feel badly when the team they are on doesn’t win. We have tried to make all of the field day games non competitive but it is surprising how quickly they can find a way to make anything a competition. I have literally told them that you can yell out encouragement but if you are doing anything that makes one of your classmates uncomfortable you will sit out the next game.

Of so true. Honestly I will probably always take the day off from now on
Ours is pretty successful. We have stations set up around the playground with each class is scheduled to spend 15 minutes at one specific station, then rotate to the next one. Primary grades are at a different time than intermediate grades. Students stay with their class, and teachers are responsible for leading the activity when they are at each station.

I literally felt like I was peeling cotton candy out of my hair and off my skin for days-even after showering!

Our kids get to "shop" at the store where they can purchase extra drinks, and candy with the "Bucks". Hype them up more, but then there are kids who stay in their lane and don't receive the extra bucks. The students who misbehave and cause problems get rewarded with the bucks when they modify. The kids whobare always behaving don't get near the "bucks" that the other kids are getting
