Seeking advice: I applied to another B4, had a screening call, and have just been asked to provide my availability for an interview. It’s been two weeks since the screening call, and in the interim I’ve had a change of heart, which is to attempt the switch in several months. I want to keep the option open for then. How should I proceed?

It depends
Are you asking if you can get ~2 promotions in 13 years?
Yes, I think that’s doable.
My husband made director last year (34) and they’re making his position (and him) VP next year. F500 company. It can happen.
F500 is very broad - you have companies with a few billion in annual revenue (probably a few hundred K to 1/2m) vs someone like Google. Their VPs are like 2m+ in TC

Totally. Go for it
Yes.
Totally doable but odds are completely against you to be actually able do it (or anyone). Middle management - Senior manager/ Directors are a terminal role in most companies. Majority of the people would not become VP in their life! My mentor’s perspective on that (i agree somewhat ) is that there is going to be a terminal role for everyone. Let’s take Amazon - a complete rockstar will either get stuck at L8 or L10. So you are talking about 1 or 2 promotions in your lifetime if you exit at a director level (L7). So why is getting to the last rung by 45 important? Why not 50?
How much do you think is driven by skills, capabilities vs. will vs. politics ?
