People act so dumb and possessive about this stuff but you’re doing a good portion of the work. You should be allowed to put it in your book. I’ve also seen a ton of ppl, even ECD level, put work in their books they had NOTHING to do with. Like literally didn’t even breathe a word in the projects direction. So I say fuck it
My friends I feel your pain. I’ve learned to just gauge what I know I did. If it’s substantial, and improves my book, I add it. There will be many projects where we all get shafted by people not pulling their weight. I pity those poor bastards. They’ll get found out but I don’t need to be the one to do it. Keep your nose and conscience clean and you’re good!
Specify your role and give credit to the people who concepted the original idea.
Absolutely. You would be surprised how many people put stuff in their book they barely worked on.
Yes. That’s literally copywriting.
Yes, of course! You worked on it. You can clearly define what your role was as well if you like. As someone who has been in the business over 20 years - I’ll tell you that you will work on a bunch of stuff that wasn’t your idea at all and sometimes you’ll be responsible for bringing somebody else’s idea to life against your better judgment. You will also be asked to dress up and pitch things you had no clue existed 20 minutes ago.
No matter what you work on, that shit belongs in your book (unless there is a reason not to include it).
Dozens of people work on all the creative. Everybody has a role and everybody’s role is important. Just do a great job and have everyone’s back. Break a leg
For me, it depends. If the wow factor of the piece is the idea and not the craft of copywriting, I might not. If the real worth of the spot is in the copy, then, 100%.
Sounds like it’s yours now.
You should specify your role in all work in your book. And yes, absolutely include it.
If you worked on a substantial part of it, then you can show it,
