Check out the Production bowl, this question comes up often - net net, we all want to go in house or pivot to other kinds of “project management” for high paying industries.
If I’m being honest with myself and ignoring any stigma (and surely I’m oversimplifying complex industries), but I feel like we would be so great in hospitality, F&B management/consultancy roles - thinking about end to end customer experience, optimizing systems, marketing of course - how many of us go to a restaurant or an experience and say “Wow, if they would only do X, Y, and Z, the experience would be so much better, they would make more money, turn rate for tables and upsells etc”. Not sure it’s really a job (wish it was because I love pointing out things that could be better lol) but I truly believe producers have great minds for finding problems big or small and managing them regardless of budget.
I appreciate your pov so much! I feel like this skillset can easily be applied in other places. But I’ve been getting crickets even applying to creative project manager roles. I needed to gut check I wasn’t go crazy for thinking like you!
In house should be better, no?
I’m not sure how major city independent shops run but I know in my mid size city that every independent agency has been much better for WLB I don’t work past 5 most days and I don’t work on my PTO or weekend.
Yeah, go in house. It’s basically your agency job but a bit more boring and with better work/life balance. I moved over a couple years ago and everything people say is true IME.
100% in house
