My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India
Hi Fishes
I want to share very bad experience I had at Mastercard
I was given offer by Mastercard in month of Dec The hike was less but looking at brand & other perks I accepted the offer & was looking forward to joining them.I got few offers & I went back to them for sole purpose of renegotiating CTC, to have a industry standard hike. They didn't reverted back for 2-3 days & just dropped a mail that they are revoking initial offer as well on grounds that they didn't like i gave other interview

I'm reading these posts like you see it as a badge of honor, I see it as an ineffective work day and inefficient use of your life.
Um how are y'all working 90+ hours?! Find a better way to achieve some resemblance of a work-life balance. I have little sympathy for people who let themselves burnout without fighting for themselves.
^pwc2 - charged. There's a 10% overhead for sure...I don't know how you managed multiple 92s. I've become a mean person - short tempered, low patience - it brought the worst out of me and really don't want to go that far again
92 hours once in a while wont kill you. On a recurring basis...maybe
Working as much as i do is horrible and if i had a better option financially and location wise i'd take it in a second. It is by no means a badge of honor. With that being said, you obviously have no clue what you're talking about if you think the only way to work 92 hours is by having an "ineffective" work day. When i started we had four directors, four seniors, and four associates in my group (including me as associate). We now have three associates, two of whom are new and know nothing, two seniors including me, and one director. Yet, we have the same amount of work. Do the math. Some offices and groups are just plain busier than others are.
I'm over here stressing when I charge 50... lmao
^it's neither a badge of honor nor an inefficient work day. No wants to work to work till midnight + for 7 days straight. You just gotta do it. That's the window of time we are given. My team does it every quarter when we prepare provisions. Client even stays till midnight that week. Trust me, we definitely aren't inefficient. We definitely take a day or two off afterwards to recover and then move on to the next.
Forever? This deadline is spproaching quickly.
I had a 90 hour week working on a provision a month ago. Seriously considered finding a new job if that becomes a regular occurrence. Although it's not like my continuous weeks of 55-65 hours makes life much better 🙃
When you are prepping or provisions, it can happen lol the client needs it done, that's how you end up charging those kind of hrs
I broke 80 as an intern-talk about raking in cash
@EY2 yeah not a lot can be done when the partner says it has to be completed in such a small timeline even after expressing concern directly.
Ah get used to it seniors get squeezed that's why they all leave
If you keep it up at this rate you'll quit public soon
Ive broken 100 a few times, make sure to take a day or two of downtime as soon as you free up. It is really necessary not to burn completely out
Charged 92 or worked 92? I charge 92 a lot. I work a lot more than that. Yes i'm now burned out and bitter beyond my years.
Lol which office? That is fucking insane
Truuu ^
If there is one thing I learned about switching firms, never take your situation for granted and understand other people may have it differently. I never worked 92 hours at EY, but the possibility that other offices have to do that is frightening. That is absolutely too many hours if you expect a decent work product, although sometimes client deadlines cause this shit to happen. For your sake, OP, I hope the rest of April goes more smoothly!
I have only worked >90 hours once in 8 busy seasons. I would die if that was my norm. Honestly, if I have more than 3 weeks straight of >70 hours I start losing it a bit.
