If you work for an ad agency, do you think copywriters and designers should be paid the same amount or at least in the same ballpark? I just found out the copywriters in our team make a good 20K/year more than designers do, and I'm wondering if this kind of unfair distribution is common across all agencies.

Pay philosophies vary a lot by agency. Some value design and copy equally, others see one as more “strategic”. What matters is whether your pay fairly reflects your impact and market value, If not, it might be time to gather data and have a conversation.

In my experience copywriters and designers generally earn similar salaries, a 20K gap seems steep though

That is a weirdly large pay discrepancy for copywriters and designers. In my experience, the pay is closed, but designers usually have an edge.

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.

I have an offer from a start-up which I will be joining next week. Even though I got a hike more than 100% ( current tc: 6lpa, new tc:14lpa) and changed to sde role I am still not satisfied. Seeing all those comp posts on leetcode I felt I can be one of them. But now I am feeling left behind and not able to move on. I know I have no dev experience. But every other person is getting tc more than 25. How can I get rid of this FOMO and focus on learning and growth. Drop your advice in comments sec.

Hello friends,
I wanted to share that I am in my first job as ui/ux expert and I am the only ux/ui person in the team. I am expected to take care of entire research and design of the product. It becomes very overwhelming as the product that I am working on is in a early phase and I am expected to think about ui as well as ux and also design entire app on my own. There is no user interview or user testing happening as my project manager thinks it can be done after product is launched. I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first? Should i apply and then email someone? In HR? Or someone who’d be directly supervising me? Or someone at my level? And what should i say? Thanks!

Question! I just moved(transferred) to another team of my company and received new title, graphic & creative services. I was a senior graphic designer at the previous team. What do you think about my new title? I know that title is not a big thing but why I feel like my title is downgraded here… Good thing is my jobs here at my current team are what I really wanted to do. This is amazing. I love my new team and people here! Super healthy working environment! But just curious about the title.
