For those of you who build websites, how do you display your built sites on your portfolio site? Do you have a page where you mock up the site or do you do a direct link? I currently have both. I’m just trying to figure out the best way for me. Here is my site for reference. The links for the sites are in the menu and below in the gallery. Sarahbellestudios.com
I’m about to start an internship at IBM for UX Research. I’m super excited about it, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the design culture there or how the company is for designers? So far online I’ve only heard about the company from consultants or software engineers. For more reference I’ll be working in Austin.

In my experience, as a Junior I was given an existing system and had to put it to use.
So designed a deck based on a template, or created assets using predetermined elements. Usually my boss would have to check everything before I would send it to a producer.
As a Mid-Level I create the actual systems. So I design the templates, determine the fonts and icons and photography. I also speak to the clients directly more and am expected to be able to present my work.
So my CD is there to give me feedback to make my designs better. But shouldn’t have to micromanage design basics or QC small asks.
This tracks very accurately. Mid level is much more aware of why they don’t yet have an answer for.
As a junior you’ll be given a lot of grunt work - cleaning up decks, cropping photos, pulling swipe - a lot of production kind of work. The more senior you get, the more you’ll be utilized as a critical thinker.
Talk to your manager. Most teams with have a career progression deck with roles, responsibilities, and key learnings at each level. Every shop is different. To me a mod is ready to work on a project. Junior designers are in grad school and it’s about finding small tasks to help teach you how things are made in your office and team.
