If your firm offered 4 weeks prenatal leave (separate from maternity leave), meaning you could stop working at 36 weeks, would you take it all? What if you were a new-ish lateral? No other moms in this specific group, so can’t compare to what others have done.

Yes. Hard stop. Take it. It’s part of your comp package so take the time. Always.

Totally agree with OP. I got my offer in the third trimester and stayed at my old firm for the full mat leave. I did not disclose my pregnancy until I got the offer. Of course, the new team’s gesture was the main reason I took the offer, but no harm in taking the interview in the first place.

I feel like gay men especially are constantly discriminated against in the workplace. I have been turned down for a promotion, yet again, in favor of a married heterosexual with kids. This has been the story of my career. Have superior experience - stellar reviews - people fighting to get on to my team because our team is great and I treat everyone well. This is so frustrating. Again and again, it’s a culture of parents helping other parents. No gays in upper level mgmt in our office.
