If you’ve ever had to choose between a low-paying “dream job” and a boring but high-paying offer, how did you decide? I just got two offers on the same day: one in ESG that I’m passionate about but pays $20k less, and one in FP&A that’s stable but uninspiring.

Choose the one you'll regret the least. Because you'll always have that 'what if' feeling regarding the other so you might as well take the one that you're gravitating more towards.

Put a different way, choose the one you won't mind putting in an extra hour of work if needed rather than the one you'll have to motivate yourself to do the extra work in.

I think it depends on your age or situation… if your younger with limited responsibilities… go with what you’re passionate about… a $20K discount sounds like a lot on paper, but if your working 80 hours a week for the FP&A role, versus 40-50 hours a week at the ESG, which is likely because they care more about people… I’m sure you wouldn’t regret it…

If you’re older and have responsibilities… you need to do what makes the most sense to take care of those responsibilities…

At the very least, you’ll have a story about your time working ESG, and won’t wonder what if… you can go get a stuffy corporate 70-80 hour job later… not everything in life needs to come down to income, it’s an easy way to compare where you are versus your friends, but that’s not the only measure of success…

Had an interview and the place says they’re in person 2-3 days a week. It’s a small team but is it crazy I was really put off by that? I’ve been remote since the beginning of COVID and fully expected to be until I’m/the majority of people are vaccinated. Is anyone else going into the office?

Can anyone help me wrap my head around this post Series C start-up equity offer? It’s an IP director position, the the base is $170 with 10% bonus (both lower than I was expecting). There’s also an equity component: 0.15% of current fully diluted equity. This equates to about 30000 shares at a strike price of $2. They also indicate the preferred stock price is $6 and preferred stock equity is $188k (whatever that means). They are in the middle of a new financing and valuation round.

Currently working in-house for a large bio pharma - like the company and most of the people, but the work is really getting monotonous and I just leaned through the grapevine that I am making significantly less money ($15k to $30k) than others in the same level/grade as me. The work I do is equally difficult and I have a smaller team because people have left, so there is no way “type” of law justifies this. I think I just did a poor job negotiating my salary and raise. Any tips on what I can do?

Does anyone know the salary of a beginner para planner at Ameriprise or any other broker-dealer?

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?
