As a child it was instilled by both my working parents to always return the shopping cart we just used to the location it belonged
I'm totally a cart nerd, I always push it over to the corral thing. I'm even the type who, if they see an elderly person getting out of their car, asks if they need a cart. A lot of older people use them for support, like a walker or cane, and they appreciate getting one handed off to them.
Wow... that could have been bad.
Thing is.. I just remind myself that customers are regular people too and many of them have some bad habits they'd bring along with them. I've had a couple of walk-in customers who would leave candy wraps on the table instead of the trash bin... I offer you refreshments, you could atleast use the bin right next you...pleeeease😫

I always take care of cart no matter how far I have parked my car from the cart return area. It drives me crazy when people behaving like this. I mean be responsible.

Guilty of giving the cart a nudge but never making it all the way sometimes—but seeing it smash into a car? That’s next-level chaos. I try to return mine now…mostly to avoid the guilt trip from coworkers.
I eithern return it, give it to another customer, or get an employee to take it in with other carts.
