I’m 28 years old and my doctor just told me my blood pressure is high enough to be concerning for someone my age. My job is literally just moving numbers from one box to another, so why am I under this much physical stress? I’ve realized that no amount of prestige is worth a heart attack before I’m 30. I’m looking for the laziest $120k accounting job in existence… what would that be?

You got it backwards. Start exercising if you are not doing so already and change your diet

like

Why are you assuming it's only due to the job? Could be diet related or other lifestyle factors like smoking and lack of exercise. Id dial in those other factors before quitting your job.

If you don’t put physical stress on your body, your cardio and muscular systems get weaker. Humans are built to be challenged physically and mentally. It’s the only way to have a fulfilling life.

High blood pressure is primarily caused by lack of exercise, poor diet, smoking, and when one gets older our veins and arteries loose their elasticity. You can make a difference with the things you have control over.

I'm around your age and was in the same situation as you. Ended up taking medication to get my blood pressure down to a better level and everything seems fine but... in my case, it was largely attributed to job stress too since my job was putting me under constant anxiety. Yes... I could have eaten healthier and exercised more but I gained 40 pounds in 3 years while working an overly stressful/demanding job - so I absolutely think job stress can lead to health problems if you're not careful.

Not everyone in public accounting loves this job and can deal with stress so well that they maintain regular exercise and healthy eating habits. So it goes hand in hand is my response to some of the other comments.
