I wast just hired and showed 30 years of experience. I’m 61!!
Congratulations! 🎉
I job hop every 2-4 years, so I go back 3 companies. It shows that I have a lot of experience, but without having to put it all on there and show my age. Age and experience should be assets, it's a shame that we're punished for it.
I'd cut off anything that's 10+ years old, as long as you still have enough listed to fill an entire page. Employers have no interest in reading multiple page resumes, and while your experience is impressive, things you did 15-20 years ago really aren't all that relevant now.
I agree with this. You also don't need to open yourself up to any discrimination based on years of experience.
I was told that the last ten years is fine, you can go back a little further but it’s not necessary unless there’s something you want to include about a specific job.
Include all of it, just leave off dates if you are concerned about age showing through. There doesn’t have to be a year cutoff if it applies to the job you want.
