Night before, I write my to do list for the next day, making sure that I have a simple thing I can complete quickly first thing in the am. Checking a box in the first 20-30 min gives my brain the feedback it needs to want to complete something else.
But more tactically, first thing I do in the morning is write a to do list / brain dump. It clears my head and also gets some momentum going.
Be sure to take meds 1.5-2 hours before work (at least that’s what I need for XR to kick in.
I also find that working out in the morning is a huge help. The act of going to the gym, even if just 10 min to stretch or something really triggers getting my head in the right place. Also the weird thing I’ve found helps is going to the gym “on the way to work” (aka showering at gym and going straight to the office) really helps. I get distracted and lose momentum if I go back to my room/apartment to get dressed. It’s more challenging when on the road but I’ve made it work by finding workout classes or gyms with short term memberships in the area. Some hotels also offer passes to local gyms if you ask
Medication and a cup of coffee. Not being sarcastic - truly notice a difference if I don’t take my meds and/or skip my morning coffee.
When you get to work, before you do anything else, make it a goal to do one thing to completion no matter what. No bathroom, no coffee, BSing with a cubemate, nothing. You should find that holding yourself to this everyday will keep you motivated and accountable. Good luck
Thanks everyone!
@BCG 1 do you have a burner? I have so many questions to ask you!!!
