I don’t mind it as a resume screener but it should be very minimal
I would only do it if you had something really unique. For example — I'm a 12 time marathon finisher. I included that, and my current boss was a former marathoner. It gave us something to connect with during my interview.
But as others have said, keep the section small. I would put it last.
I’ve always had one and I’m on my third in house job…people will often bring it up in interviews as a talking point. Mine are pretty generic though so they’re easy talking points. I’d include one, but not if anything you’d list could be in any way construed as odd or controversial
Interesting responses below. I've always had one and it never seemed like a big deal.
I had one and thought it was totally normal, so these comments are surprising to me
Curious to see what others think as well, but I think it could be a positive if you happen to have any interests that align with community service/community involvement. Depending on the in-house company, they may have employees that participate in different community-related things (employees volunteering for United Way Day of Caring, you've volunteered with org the company has sponsored/donated to in the past, etc). Otherwise, I'd err on eaving it out.
Not terrible depending on whether you have space for it and how it’s written (don’t look pompous or boring)
I don’t but used to and it makes for good talking points in an interview, but it could hurt you if they’re not conventional or popular interests. I’ve heard of people writing dumb things like video games. I had things like running races. I took it off more to save room than anything.
