Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I actually made a good amount less at my first salary job after being promoted. I left six months after the promotion for a 17% raise and they called me back six months later and offered more money. Just take the offer to get experience and apply as an assistant manager or manager in about a year as an external candidate
I actually ended up taking a pay cut when I switched from a sales role to an assistant manager role because I wasn’t making commission anymore and the salary wasn’t increased by much. Less than a year into being an assistant manager, I applied externally to a different company and received an offer for $20,000 more annually as a manager. I then returned a few years later to the original company as a manager and received an additional pay increase. I came back to the same company making $50,000 more than what I was making as an Assistant Manager when I first left. It’s possible to make it work, but look at all your options.
That seems a little low, but it also depends on the company you're looking at. Try to see if there's room to increase your base but if not are there performance bonuses? stipends? raise timeline? These are other things to consider that are technically part of your comp. I wouldn't accept the same salary just for a title change.
I would negotiate for something closer to what you're looking for. There's no harm in negotiation. And if they aren't willing to get you closer to what you want, walk away.
