I grew up lower middle class, with a single mom who worked multiple jobs. Kids are a big factor in living comfortably. My NW number to hit as a family is $10M, but with passive income (real estate) I could be convinced to retire with less.
Coach
Upper middle class. $5m
Thanks! Should’ve read on before replying
Upper middle, $5m baby!
Subject Expert
Middle middle class, borderline lower middle class. $1.5-2M. Not that I have a choice since I highly doubt I’ll ever have significantly more than that.
C’mon!!
guys, if your NW is $5M+ you're upper class. these be the facts.

Ok you’ve cited that a number of times. Pew is a bit confusing in their terminology but even they don’t use the word class.
Go in out your income in their calculator - it will spit out “upper income” not “upper class.” There is a reason for that.
Middle class to upper middle class. Consider $3 million for an individual or about $5 million for a household.
My upbringing had been all over the place, from low upper class to low middle even hitting high low. Today I’m mid upper to high upper and would like to have $5M NW for retirement.
What metrics are you using for lower, middle and upper class
I tend to use 2/3 to 2x median income to define middle income / middle class bounds. In line w pew research definition

Do you consider age to factor in? I’d assume a 30 yo with $1M net worth to be different than someone who is 67 and same place.
