I'm applying for a role in law enforcement and one of the benefits mentioned is 'uniforms' provided. Isn't that a bare necessity? I'm new to the field and just curious.

Some places will deduct the cost of the uniform from your first paycheck. I assume when they say uniforms provided, that would (hopefully) mean at no cost to you

It should be a bare necessity. However, some LE entities require you to purchase your own uniforms due to costs, and tbh they aren't looking to invest in you early until you prove your value, it's just how it is. So you'll have to be with the department for a while until they start sending you to training classes beyond the basics that help your career or provide a uniform stipend.

In most cases. It won’t be the bare necessities but it will be just everything you need right away. Later on when you’re in your car you’ll want to get a seat back bag. Maybe extra tourniquets, med bag kits, clip boards, and upgrade your belt pouches to lighter thinner pouches.

The EA/Admin profession used to be a gateway for many people to get their foot in the door and grow into different career paths. For most organizations this is no longer the case. Do you see EA’s/Admins growing into different roles within your orgs? If so, what paths are taken? What steps are taken to get there? What I’d like to learn is whether our profession still has the capability to be a doorway or if others are seeing the same things I am; limited opportunities for development.
