Due to my age I decided to get out of factory work and move on to restaurant/retail. I get ghosted or to be told that they have to interview other candidates they'll let me know. I'm wanting to move on to retail or fast food due to my age I need to get out of factory work. Is anyone else mentally drained with the state of the job market? ! I know that I don't have a bunch of experience. But they should be willing to give someone a chance just saying!

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷
