I would do it. Next year, the pre-pandemic status extensions expire, so there will be many fewer elite members, which means more perks for the remaining elites. Being ambassador puts you near the top if the list next year, much better than being titanium this year or the past few years.
Do you travel internationally? Ambassador already means something, especially in Asia and LatAm. Not sure about Europe. But either way, better than north America.
Rising Star
For $200? Probably
No
Eh, the 24-hour benefit is nice if you’re traveling on red eyes and want to grab a couple hours of sleep or a shower early morning before meetings without booking an entire new night
This is the only potential use case to make the $200 worth it. Can get great value out of this but only if you plan to use it
No, nothing gained over titanium.
I think worth $200 to be above all the Titaniums in upgrade priority. I agree Ambassador in general sucks relative to its requirements (esp vs Hyatt) but have had decent upgrade hit rate over the years, maybe 40%.
For $200 absolutely… if it were a grand or more I’d say no but just go stay a night at a decent hotel in town or flex a weekend and have fun at the same time.
I would do it - recent stay and I got comped 70k points as an ambassador whereas if I was plat/titanium I doubt they would’ve comped even 40..
That alone makes it worth it if something unfortunate pops up
Also have had decent suite upgrade priority in Asia
Yes
No, pretty useless
Not worth it
Thank you all! Helpful context
One more question - think Marriott would push me over the edge if I called and pleaded? Or it’s a rock solid policy?
Call and see. Asking is basically free.
