I'm good at IB, but that doesn't mean I like it. Is anyone else stuck in the "golden handcuffs?"

Golden handcuffs refer to deferred comp that is clawed back if you leave - not high paying jobs...

I can respond with a passive aggressive comment but it’s the long weekend in a few hours.

We are saying the same thing. If you could get that comp elsewhere (regardless of whether it cash based or stock or just deferred comp) you would leave. The form/structure of the comp is irrelevant, it is higher than you can make elsewhere.

If you could leave for the same level of comp, even if it’s deferred you would.

Midlaw M&A/Corporate 6th year in LCOL city. Have potential opportunity to go in house for public fintech co. doing substantially similar work. Comp similar to what I make now, but vague on upside. Not necessarily ready to move (generally like my firm and group), but nervous my in-house marketability will decrease the longer I stay at a firm. Any thoughts appreciated.

Thoughts on women with braces?

Female in my 30s. Had a minor dental alignment/cosmetic issue (not visible to anyone other than my dentist and I) and was recommended to do braces for 2 months. Worried that this will ruin my dating life for those id be meeting the first time; or make me look like a teenager in front of clients

Hi - I’ve moved to Toronto (from Asia) with 5 YOE in Corporate banking + 2 YOE IB/capital markets (7 YOE in TOTAL) working roles in Front Office and financial analysis.

Believe I’d be a great fit as an Associate in the same space at the major banks (RBC, TD, Scotia, CIBC etc) or in PE/ Asset management.

Could someone help by mentioning the salary ranges I can expect?

Also any tips on networking would be appreciated. Thank you!

Looking for advice: I have an analyst (9 months on the job) who still doesn’t get it - repeatedly misses comments, doesn’t follow instructions, slow, etc. I have raised this to both my MDs and they seem to be adopting a “not my problem” approach when I mention it. I had advised against hiring this analyst post internship and my MD insisted that all the issues I highlighted were fixable. I have tried teaching him to no avail and frustration with him is growing. Any suggestions for how to handle?
