Failed REG for the second time and I've worked in tax for about 6 months. First time I got a 72 and the second a 74. Feel pretty worthless 😢

I'm right there with you. Failed both FAR and AUD and nothing seems to motivate me enough to put in the time.

CPA isn't about working in it. It's about putting the time and effort into the review materials.

REG is tough; don't let it get you down. At least your score went up!

The thing that gets me is I work in tax so I should know the crap. Every time it comes back saying I'm deficient in business law.

Keep at it - you'll eventually get there. It took me three tries to make it over the hill

Don't get too down on yourself. I have heard very often that people who work in audit/tax are more likely to fail their respective section of the exam because they apply what they know from work to the exam which isn't always the "textbook" answer. You're obviously really close to passing. You'll get in on the next try 😊

I feel you. It's never easy to fail a cpa exam...

I failed REG twice too. It's ok, eventually you'll pass and forget about the pain of studying and just enjoy your life 🙂 don't give up!

OP I am also in tax and failed REG for the second time. 69 this time around and was either comparable or stronger in all areas except for Sims. Pretty disappointed considering I put in a lot of time to study. Frustrated because the Sims tested me on the most random crap like early withdrawal penalty on pension distribution and life insurance proceeds in an estate. I knew all of the material that should be general knowledge like basis for the various entities, all income and deduction items for entities, etc but no, I get tested on material that is literally a paragraph in Becker. UGH!

Thirs times the charm? Just keep trying. You will get there. Goos luck!

*good

Thank you for the kind words! It's just disappointing and I'm going to have to repurchase Becker again due to mine expiring in March. Bad situation overall.

I recommend Ninja. It helped me pass REG and I liked the question format way more than Becker. It's also way cheaper. Just fyi.

I did Wiley and the short clips were great (boring but easy to follow) and it's broken up so much that you can take it in little chunks.

Hi Fishes,

I received an offer (28 Lakhs + 3.9 Lakhs incentive) from Novartis for Sr Project Manager yesterday. This was just 13.6% more than my current earnings as Project Manager. I've given the reasons why I deserve at least 30% to HR. In response to that, HR has sent 2nd offer i.e. 29 Lakhs + 4 Lakhs incentive + 50k sign-on bonus. The 2nd offer is just 18.2% higher than my current earnings. Need your suggestion, if I could still negotiate with HR to finalize deal by asking for 25% hike?

My firm’s IT (especially system saving and file locating function) is so bad 😐😞 and they keep doing updates no one asked them for just to mess with the stuff we already got a hang of without doing anything about the issues we actually need fixed. Anyone else in a similar boat? Do you bill the client for the time it takes to fix the IT issue (or IT inefficiency generally, like time taken to find a file in a convoluted system)? Or is that supposed to be our non-billable time?

This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
