All of this!!! I’ve reminded my MIL who started bombarding me with educational activities for my 6, 4, and 2 year old that I still have a full time job - and I am lucky to have the luxury of WFH and still get a paycheck. My kids will be practicing social and negotiating skills amongst themselves and with little intervention for the foreseeable future and getting more screen time than ever before. My hope is that they remember the pandemic as that time there was no school for 2 months and they got to stay home and have fun. If only they get to be so lucky!
So agree with you both, and I also have three (11,4,2). Looks like we all have 4 and 2 year olds, which is probably the most challenging ages for this situation! At least they have each other...Between work, keeping kids occupied and making three square meals a day, there is barely time to decompress or figure out how to take care of yourself properly (which is now likely even more important). I originally had a few days off for a (cancelled) spring break trip, so I actually broke them out and am taking off three Wednesdays in a row. First was yesterday and it really helped break up the week so I could actually engage with my kids a bit. I also delegated one of the three meals to my husband, which helps as well.
I could kiss this author!
