Calendar management is strategy, you have to consider and anticipate priorities, personalities, time zones, travel time if your booking a meeting while en route, etc., they don’t call it Tetris for nothing. I would see if LinkedIn offers a course. I’ve been managing Exec calendars for over 25+ years and I still get challenged. Good luck to you.
With the ageism, you'll definitely do better when interviewing with older managers in their 50s'+. You can expand on your experience. The young managers definitely are prejudice against older workers, not all, of course, but the majority. Look to apply at companies that have a diverse workforce with a lot of older workers.

I can't help you with ageism, is that's just something nobody can really fix and you're just going to have to deal with unfortunately. But as far as calendar experience goes, in my first AA and EA jobs I never actually had to do any calendar work. But basically if you can make an appointment, you can make a meeting. It's all simple and pretty intuitive.
Can I ask why you want to switch careers?
