I’m on a project with a client who’s pushing to build a custom internal platform, even though there are off-the-shelf tools that meet most of their needs. I get the appeal of full control, but the long-term costs and tech debt are real concerns. At a certain point, it feels like innovation theater. How do you handle build vs. buy discussions when the client is set on building but the business case doesn’t add up? Obviously I get paid either way, asking more so for the future when I'm in industry
