I'm starting a new job on Monday. Which I'm mostly excited about, but I always feel a little uncomfortable the first few months in a new office. I never know how to get my new coworkers to warm up to me. Are there any good questions or conversational topics I should bring up when trying to get to know these people?

My mom’s friend was supposed to come to my wedding in a week and just cancelled. I’ve never met her but my mom insisted she be invited. This person already sent us a check which we deposited already; we already sent a thank you card. This person left me a VM saying they were sorry they couldn’t come; they have leukemia and their Dr. didn’t approve. Do I need to call them back? I would like to avoid an awkward phone call about personal matterwith a stranger but also don’t want to be insensitive.

Should I take more initiative? It’s my stub year and I’m getting worried. My hours have been super low the past two months, I’m talking like maybe billing 3-4 hours a day and billing no hours on multiple days. I ask for work but the tasks I get don’t require a lot of time. Should I be reaching out more?

Is getting a cert every month or even every 2 months doable? In the analytics field and had goals to get a couple of specific certs this year (one is scheduled, and another I have to take within 2 months, and there were 2 others I had planned to get before end of this year) but want to make sure I’m not setting myself up to fail by doing them too quickly

If I decline one FAANG offer for another, Will I get blacklisted at the one I declined??
