I'm supposed to be teaching again in a little less than two weeks, and I've just been told I'll be moving classrooms. So now I get to spend the last two weeks of my summer moving everything from a room I've been in 4 years down the hall. With no help of course. Love my job!

Yep, I agree. Make sure you get compensated. Talk to your union, there should be some guidelines in the contract.

At least you have a job!💕

like

Do it on contract time.

like

You don’t have to. You can begin on your contracted start date. It won’t be fun, but you will be making a point and you will gain the respect of other teachers. We aren’t paid to come in over the summer, but we always do. Why? No other professional has to use their own unpaid time to prepare for their first day. But, check your contract. You may be entitled to a couple of days if the move occurs within a certain timeframe of the start of school.

That's pretty lousy! I've always been worried about something like that happening, so I try to keep as small a footprint as I can in my classroom. Famous last words! If I had to move it all tomorrow it would be a monster of a job. I sometimes think the books are multiplying, I couldn't have carried them all in.📚📚📚

While your books multiply, mine walk away from our seventh grade classroom, usually just the best ones!

This is why you should have your vacation email on!

Two weeks to move rooms ,I don't think so .

Our custodians would move everything. You still would have to unpack and set up your room. Maybe you can get help from them.

I’m thinking about moving up to a high school English position from 8th grade English. Mainly I’m looking for a change. Any thoughts on the differences I’d be facing?

I have high school children of my own, but disciplining high schoolers has always intimidated me for some reason. I have excellent classroom management, but I feel like high schoolers are a little smarter ab getting around rules and less worried about consequences.

I’m told by an hs tchr that the grading load is ab the same.

Anyone else the last to be informed about ANYTHING at their site? I am only a second year SPED teacher and my eyes are already wide open to the fact that admin and Gen Ed teachers so often fail to inform me about important things regarding the grade levels I teach and other school events. Then I’m left scrambling to inform my students and parents of essential information, and I’m embarrassed! My aides also look at me like why don’t you know this? Aggravating.
