Definitely ask if your company will pay for the SHRM. If they don't it may still be worth it. I took it a few ago and although I didn't move into an HR role, I found the content extremely helpful, especially as it relates to understanding HR compliance.
Something you may also want to consider from a career advancement perspective is joining your local SHRM chapter or any local professional groups for recruiters. I sit on the board of a recruiter training group and have gained a ton both through my learnings but also in opportunities with my employer as they see value in this type of work.
One last thought - all education has value. You can easily grow in your understanding of our work through free online trainings, webinars and of course, paid training or conferences. I set aside a bit of my income every year to pay for training courses and events and I've never once regretted it.
Thank you, that's good advice and information. I have attended some webinars and free courses and they were somewhat helpful.
