In March, I celebrate 1 year with my company. A recruiter from another company called me recently for the same role but fully remote and potentially 20-30% higher pay. I currently go in 3x a week even though the rest of my team is spread across the Eastern US.
I'm tempted to try to get an offer from this other company and leverage it for a raise from my current company. I like my current company and wasn't looking to move, and my comp is supposed to be reviewed in March anyway.
Thoughts?

I think you should pursue the new role. In-house raises usually top out somewhere around 4% without a promotion. Maybe it’s worth making a move.

like

Yeah - if it is really a 30% total comp bump, my guess is you’d need to get promoted at least twice in your current company to come close, which would be a number of years down the line.

like

Just move for the bump… you won’t be looked at the same after you give them an ultimatum (they give you raise and you decide to stay).

Does using a competing offer ever work to get more at your current job?

like

No lol.

The standard advice is to never stay for a counteroffer.

If you value your time and you like being compensated well take the other role. Congrats on the 1 year work anniversary but don’t get stuck in some one-way loyalty loop. Trying to get a counter offer is hit or miss. Depends on how niche your role/skillset is.

Hi Everyone !!!

This June I completed my 9 months at Career Level 12 and Sub Level 3 I.e, CL 12.3 at
Accenture Operations. My Annual Talent Discussion and One-on-One with People Lead is complete as of last week.

I have 3 questions now :
1. When can I expect to move to 12.2 ?
2. What is the general hike I can expect ? And when it is reflected ?
3. When will be the variable pay will be paid out ?

Can anyone here help me with this performance cycle part ? I am really confused.

My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. But then, I learned that those same coworkers had been put back to 5 days because they were deemed “essential“. I felt foolish and decided to stop working on fridays. One EVP (not the GC) in particular has been aggressively texting/calling me on fridays. How Do I tactfully respond? My out-of-office email is not enough of a hint...

Considering taking a position with a small-cap in the US trying to build their legal department. The title is standard “counsel” although the work would be with the senior leadership team and reporting to the GC in Europe. How reasonable is it to ask for a bump in title - Senior counsel or Head of Legal, US? If it matters, I am a 6th year and have been told that I will be expected to hire a junior or paralegal as we build up.

Potential to get involved in the business side, but most likely more of a back office role (I would also be the only legal hire - main goal would be cutting outside legal cost and streamlining processes). Does this sound like an attractive offer? What exit options would I have?

Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. A recruiter reached out with a new role for 2-2.5x more than I currently make doing something similar. I love my company and the people I work with but the money isn’t there. Is it worth trying to get a counter to stay if I get the bigger offer?
