Interviewed for a café job and they focused heavily on upselling and targets. I thought it would be more about service. Is sales becoming a bigger part of these roles everywhere?

You can't upsell efficiently without providing good service. They go hand in hand

Yes, it is.

Yes I have to agree

Service is very important, but since you can certainly fake it til you make it to give good service and their bottom line is their main focus, sales would probably get an edge over service

Oh god yes I completely agree with the fake it till you make it line!

Upselling is only facilitated by quality service. You don't spend more money with someone you don't like. The interviewer might not understand that, but, as long as you do, that's what matters.

That’s true!

More and more companies are focusing on targets and are target driven, instead of realizing who drives the targets, the customer. They are focusing less on customer service and product quality.

Ahhhhh … it’s always about business and increasing revenue

My company got bought out but kept most of the sales team on. Everything was pretty much the same for the first few months, but recently I've been seeing a shift in my responsibilities-doing customer service tasks and lots of little extras. How do I factor this in when asking for a raise in my review?

529 Plan VERSUS Prepaid

We live in Florida and currently have a Freshman in High School and a 16 month old. We hear from our friends and family with college bound children "I wish we would have done Florida PrePaid." After obviously ignoring this for years, we are finally trying to do it before "it's too late" for both children.

Does anyone have recommendations on which plan to go with for each child? I once did the pros and cons on a whiteboard and it seemed like 529 was better.
