Interested to understand how I can put my best foot forward!
what do you do in deal analytics?
It has to do with performing data analysis for transaction (M&A) teams I suppose
Which team ? TD or Bus. modeling ?
What’s the difference
TD is transaction diligence. Financial mostly. Other sits under Corp finance group and has lots of analytics resources doing work across all aspects of transaction lifecycle.
Transaction diligence.
What city?
I work in a similar role at a competitor. Things to keep in mind in the space.
Time is extremely limited when executing analytics so you don’t get time to build the perfect model. It really helps to have analysis pipelines ready to go so you can spend time testing hypotheses at a high level. Ive done a large number of these engagements and have some of the analyses down to ~1-2hrs once I get the internal data into reasonable shape with ml pipelines.
Strong emphasis on identifying hypotheses for improving the business. You won’t be able to prove it much in a one to two week sprint but you should be able to figure out where to look for savings and growth post acquisition. This is different from the type of work mbb would do in that it is more tactical. Less about market fit and more about business optimization.
Knowing how to creatively blend external and internal information can add quite a bit of value depending on the vertical you are working in.
Hi @Manager, how did your interview go? I have a similar 3 hour interview @ EY coming up and wanted to see if you have any useful insight for me. What data were you presented with, what were you asked to do with it?
