Sounds high. Is the company footing more of the total premium bill to the employees, rather than paying a larger share of it themselves? I wouldn’t be surprised to be honest, particularly with large companies. They try to save more money by doing things like that to their large number of employees. Sometimes just to give their leadership a higher bonus, not necessarily to invest it back into the business or anything noble like that.
You can’t just look at it from a premium lens. It depends on how much medical needs you have. What’s your individual deductible and out of pocket max? With PPO you have the flexibility but they are a little expensive. If you don’t anticipate too much medical needs and are overall healthy look for a high deductible plan or HMO options (if your employer offers them) that may be cheaper. Good luck..!
It's a bit on the high side, but it depends on how good the PPO's coverage is and what the deductible is. My (small) company's upper option of two PPO options with Aetna is $115 a month, with a $1500 deductible and a $3000 annual out of pocket max, with $0 for diagnostic x-rays and lab and $0 for inpatient hospital services and $0 for outpatient services.
The lesser PPO plan has a $45 monthly premium, with a $2K deductible and a $4K out of pocket max, but 20% co-pay on the services mentioned above.
Makes sense and relieved to hear. They offer a high deductible + HSA plan, but I have medical needs that make the PPO a better fit.
So that is about $100 per check correct? Honestly, it is a little on the higher side but not bad.I think mine is about $80 per check or $160 per month.
