Is anyone's company doing anything for Employee Appreciation Day? I didn't even remember that was coming up. Then my CEO popped his head in my office this morning, asking what I had planned for tomorrow. I stared blankly back at him for a bit. He told me to figure something out. Think if I have lunch catered tomorrow, that will be enough? I could get some balloons and streamers.

We’re doing cookies and coffee. Not much but it was the best I can get approved.

We are doing the same but breakfast.

Just stick with lunch, that's more than enough. Balloons and streamers are overkill. We're not doing anything this year. I asked, but it's "not in budget." 🙄

Lunch is plenty.

I reminded my team two weeks ago it was coming. I haven't heard a peep from them to do anything. I guess I will see what tomorrow brings.

I have to set an annual reminder so I don’t forget 🤣 We do a catered breakfast and/or lunch along with a small gift for everyone. I also remind senior leaders ahead of time so they can express appreciation on their own.

A catered lunch is a lot more than we did. By that I mean, we didn’t acknowledge employee appreciation day. I don’t know if that was my job to do or the management teams.

It doesn’t have to be on that day. It can be anytime of year. And usually when companies control the date they do bigger events. But if your company does stuff regularly like bbqs, lunches, day outs as a team, you don’t have to follow the “employee appreciation day” It’s nice, but it’s not always feasible if you are the only HR person juggling many things.

I don’t like any of the Dem candidates, but oddly enough I’d prefer Yang over Warren, Bernie, Kamala, or Biden. Especially considering I think UBI is asinine. Is that weird?

Republicans, you're totally right. The election process is rigged and voting doesn't matter, let's just stop voting all together to protest this madness

Been at a “top 5” agency for 2 years now and haven’t produced a single piece of work that I feel is book worthy. Granted, there is the whole global pandemic thing. But at what point do you start looking for a new job? Is 2 years long enough to at least get some cred for the name on the resume, despite not making anything great?
