just wanted to expand on this given the other responses. telling people to go touch grass probably won’t help with their depression. sadness and fear are rational responses to a collapsing climate, political chaos, the erosion of democracy, etc. i’m sorry you’re struggling. a lot of us see what you’re seeing and don’t think it’s okay. i don’t think it’s the end of the world, but it makes sense to feel overwhelmed and to grieve losses, whether they’re personal or collective.

It’s just you. Turn off the tv and go outside.
This. I will add to say, once outside, take off one’s shoes and touch grass/sand/dirt.
It’s a hell of a lot calmer than the 60s.
We are lucky that the 80s-2000s were pretty calm historically.
Thank you for sharing.
The reality is that we are living in end times and the world is not going to last much longer. There are times when I feel depressed at the things happening around me. But this world is not my home. I’m just passing through. All that I’m witnessing was predicted in the Bible.
I don’t know what your faith is, but I take comfort in the fact that the heartache and pain I see around me will end soon! Don’t look down. Look up!
I get it, but let’s not to be so doom and gloom. Your called to be light and a positive force in this world. Work for the well being of your community in the best way you can.
Definitely not just you. I fall into that black pit of hopelessness sometimes too, I try to remind myself that our media is so incredibly sensationalized that you can’t be affected by the headlines. It’s ok to take a break from current events if you need to. Focus on your life and all the things that make it great and stay away from the news for a while.
I'm not an attorney, but I've worked with many and one thing I find frustrating with the profession is that law school teaches you all to constantly assume the worst. That's why so many lawyers are anxious, depressed and/or have drug addictions. You need to turn off your "lawyer brain" and learn to see the good in others.
That said, yes things are definitely bad right now. The Trump administration is attacking private law firms, judges and civil servants just for doing their jobs. A lot of people are losing their jobs, their homes, and their families. Be grateful for what you have.
Look at the stock market if you have any doubts about the future of America. Investors are bullish.
The world actually ended post-2006 and we all are just living in a simulation.
Yea likelihood it’s a simulation are pretty high
