When I ghost hiring managers it’s usually because they are either changing the terms of the job description during the interview (job duties, number of hybrid days), or they are revealing disturbing information about the company culture (I once had an HM say she was scared of the CEO who worked at the office right across her). I’m not entertaining those kinds of work conditions or switcheroos. If their application system has a withdrawal function I’ll withdraw the application and send my message that way, but otherwise they won’t hear from me again as I may block their number to not be bothered again.
Can you tell us more about what you talked about? Did you reveal any new information, such as salary or in-office requirements, that may have made people change their mind?
That's so weird! Because usually I'm the one doing the ghosting lol!!!! I'm surprised so many people aren't interested in working with you, considering the job market. Maybe your pay rate is too low?
Is there some information candidates could be finding out about the position that turns them off?
I’m confused by people saying that the job market is competitive right now. I thought it was competitive in the other direction, meaning that it is hard for candidates to find a position, not that it is hard to find candidates to fill a position. Can you guys clarify? Thanks.
This definitely sounds more like the issue of the hiring culture lately. Ghosting is crazy common now and with the saturated job market, candidates are juggling multiple offers. I don't think it's your skills.
It sounds like 8 people thought two interviews was more than enough for a decision to be made.
How many rounds of interviews did they have to do?
It is definitely normal, especially in this job market. But don't worry, the same thing is happening to many people so it really may not be your interview skills. So many people are being ghosted because the job market is so competitive right now.
