Best Industry to work for in Supply Chain?

I have experience in FMCG, Pharma and Retail. For me FMCG has been the best so far.

Alco-Bev, only problem is that generally they have it figured out more than most

Do you have any insight on how the pay range is there? I would agree great work culture and a lot of points mentioned, but from what I see at alcohol retail side do not seem to be much higher in terms of comp compared to other industries

I’ve never worked in pharma, but those mfg processes are pretty complex. I think they pay pretty well too. Retail is fun because it’s so tangible but it’s probably one of the worst to work in from a pay perspective unless you’re at Amazon.

I feel the supply chain ( network to be precise)of Retail is too complex and gets difficult if the no. of vendors increase.

Based on my experiences, Pharma is efficient, but overly cautious due to regulatory requirements; most Retailers have not really evolved much, aside from placing more demands on suppliers. Automotive can be interesting, depending on the manufacturer, but like retail, they are less flexible with change.
Like you, I think FMCG is probably the most interesting and challenging due to the ever increasing retailer requirements along with having control of the manufacturing.

I’ve worked in public healthcare, railway, oil and gas and financial services.. by far the best has been my current role in supply chain consulting 😀

I’ve worked at places that all have different holiday policies. EA has at minimum a nice 10 day shutdown from Christmas Eve through New Years. It’s great to know that there will be no slack messages or an exploded inbox to come back to while away. I’ve been at other studios that only give you Christmas Eve & Day and New Years Eve & Day and then the rest is up to you to request for PTO and this is obviously the suck.

Wonder what it’s like for you?

We’re having an Indian wedding on a Sunday with ceremony in the morning, followed by lunch, and then cocktail hour + reception.

Given that the wedding starts early, we will have guests (~30) flying in the day before. What is the expectation in terms of arranging dinner for them? We’re trying to avoid having an additional event Saturday night - any idea on if these guests would need to have food arranged for them by us and what that could look like on a cost effective budget.

Joining IBM in December. under 30% tax-slab.
How is my tax calculated, will IBM ask for my prev. comp Form16? (or my ctc is prorated for Dec,Jan,Feb,Mar)
at least for the 4 months of this FY I need full sal. in hand.
How to proceed. I wish my JB comes without tax deduction.

Is there any issue, if the designation at the time of offer is different than that of relieving? Asking because, I am leaving IBM GBS, have told my designation as Senior software engineer ( offer letter had it) to the other company, but got to know that designation IBM will be writing on relieving letter will be application developer.

At the moment I'm a procurement consultant in London, but want to make a move towards supply chain consulting.
