Any financial analysts here?
About to head to the HC for a role in ProdOps and Strategy in Mountain View. 4 YoE at MBB, no competing offers. Recruiter gave me a form that asks expected comp.
Levels.fyi has only PM salaries. I haven’t been told the level but expect it to be L4.
What total comp would you expect for this role? Any advice would be super helpful, as I’m a bit lost.

I came to Google from Amazon and trust me your mental health cost is more than 60k. Hard to find more toxic environment
Honestly, I’d say Amazon environment is way more toxic—at least, that's been my experience.
It’s definitely team-dependent, but all my friends in different Amazon teams face the same stuff. You’ve got to be on high alert 24/7, always ready for a backstab from coworkers who are driven by jealousy and pure competitiveness. On top, there are plenty of folks who’ll wait until your initiative is near the finish line just to swoop in and take the credit. Meanwhile, management acts all friendly but will drop you the second it benefits them. It’s like living in constant survival mode.
Don’t - if you have peace of mind at Google, stay put. Amazon is not for everyone and culture is so org dependent
It ultimately depends on your level of pain tolerance.
My wife worked there for 6mo and quit.
In office at 7am. 10hr days in person. Meetings and calls until 10pm. Constant emergencies and random escalations. Middle management would take credit for when things went right and blame others when it went wrong.
Honestly, when she told me about it, I didn’t believe her. Until I listened to their calls on speaker during the evenings. It was rough lol.
Another observation, everyone on her team was there on a visa. It was openly talked about how they would leave if they could but visa complications were making job hopping untenable.
she was on their Amazon Alexa team
Sounds like it’s worth about 60K more
Yea but have not heard good things about amazon culture. That also has a value
Rising Star
I wouldn’t
Totally agree and the main reason Amazon's culture is so terrible is the talent management approach. Everyone is stack ranked which means amazon is like bloodsport with co-workers trying to show that they're more valuable. Collaboration at amazon sucks. People treat you all smiley and energetic in person, but then cut you down behind your back. You can have an amazing year and still get an average performance rating because your manager just likes a co-worker better than you. Avoid amazon like the plague
Is this 100k to 160k or 300k to 360k?
Also how much utility will additional 60k per year (which is like 3000 usd per month post tax) for you and your household? If your spouse is a goldman MD pulling 2M per yr then no, dont do it
20% hike is still significant. But the likely cost of added mental pressure, uncertainty, building your network again etc - Surely these are significant. $3k extra cash per month signficant?
What does your path to 50k more at Google look like?
Probably at least another 2 years
Yes
