Not necessarily. We haven’t had assigned seating since before Covid and I know our company is financially stable.
Our leadership instituted Workplace 2.0 back in 2018 which included a hybrid model and hot-desking. We were financially solid.
I straight up refused to move my stuff every day. If nothing else, I was right next to the snack drawer and beer fridge.
Then 2020 happened and their new model looked like genius. Of course we were acquired in 2022 and the new ownership are hardcore RTO.
Just find a spot you like, throw some decor up and add a few family pics.. no one else will sit there
The mental cost of hotdesking cannot be overstated. I used to be able to mentally plan out my day while still on the train, mentally "seeing" the co-workers I would be dealing with in their seats, and now that's impossible. I miss assigned seats so much.
Maybe the firm wants to test a new model. No necessarily a sign if a failing business. I used to do this with a previous company. Great way to meet new people and have a different kind of fun.
No reinvestment, allocation to higher growth areas or clear identification of opportunity.
how do people deal with the germs is what i want to know
