PE M&A tends to be a bit faster paced but more process-driven, but honestly the practical difference in lifestyle on a day to day basis is marginal at best. PE M&A will generally have better exit opps, but again the difference here is not material imo, provided you’re at a top shop in either case.
I have found strategic to be 100x more manageable. More sell side work w better visibility into timeline, less aggressive clients, less make work stuff bc nobody wants to pay for that

PE exit opps pay a lot more but strategic is more fun while you are at a firm imo

To counter other people, anything with a public company strategic tends to be driven by market timing and more pressure, whereas PE clients have expectations driven by a desire to close (not public disclosure or stock price driven)
