Some people who live at the beaches refer to the intercoastal as "the ditch" and there is a bit of a town meme that they "won't cross the ditch" ie don't want to come into Jax proper with the rest of us. I would like to believe it's all in good fun. I wouldn't say that beaches ppl are just 'beefing' with riverside people but have a similar attitude for all the rest of Jax.
Thank you!
In general there are 2 waterways splitting us into 3 silos that people on the 2 outer sides act like they are incapable of crossing like an invisible forcefield. The river and the intercostal.
In all seriousness, it's like the people who choose those 2 areas in particular were going for a particular neighborhood vibe so they are committed to enjoying the one they specifically choose (and perhaps pay extra for).
Those of us that live in the center are more likely to enjoy ourselves all over town wherever the fun takes us (or the interstate)!
This is helpful! Thank you!
