People in tech consulting....is alteryx really a good software skill to have? While it’s a great product and heavily adopted by big four, I feel like it’s just a great process automater for depts ->

I‘m one month into a 6+ month project of building alteryx workflows for a major client. I wouldn’t be in advisory if I didn’t have alteryx skills

Is your group recruiting externally?

I have a couple of siblings who are software engineers. Short answer is no.

good to know if you're going to a firm that uses it or plans to begin implementing it.

like

It’s a great introduction into data science, but you need to dig deeper to understand the data flow. From Data Warehousing to Data Modeling and Delivering Custom Reports. Alteryx can actually do all of these things to some level, but not as efficiently as learning a language like Python or R

like

I work in machine learning and I know we are pushing Alteryx on our tax/audit people. I myself got a license...but find it much less efficient than python. seems gimmicky to me

Easier to update the regular code

at big four and other firms. Will it be useful if I get into tech strategy or tech consulting at all? Which computer skills would be more helpful?

Sad I love alteryx

OP is asking about tech consulting.

No need to be a jerk. Jeez

Alteryx is a great user friendly ETL tool. What do you actually mean by “tech consulting”?

It’s more than just ETL though. It can interact with actual code to include Python / R / SQL.

Anyone else just sitting around waiting for the ax to drop? I'm a soon to be 2nd year corporate associate who has seen work completely dry up. My utilization held pretty steady around 50% immediately after shutdown, but August was below 15 billables with no appreciable work in the pipeline. Aside from letting people know I'm available and doing pro-bono/CLE, it's starting to feel like a serious "covidcation" leading to termination.
