I’d rather dread Monday and be paid well than hate work and barely be able to make ends meet. Consider making smart investments and savings decisions now, and you can easily take that less stressful job down the road. I’ve seen quite a few people do that who made decent money before.
I've had a handful of clients do it. And at higher amounts than your talking about. They got their affairs in order and made the decision for the right reason. Mental sanity and a life outside of work was important enough to them to walk away and find something else. That being said they out things in order and found another position before they walked away from the stressful job.
What’s a decent bonus
What if his bonus is 2x 3x his base salary, as is common in certain roles
Build up that savings and investment accounts
You have to create a runway for yourself. Yes I’ve done it before in process of it now. It’s a scary leap without certainty but your health is your wealth. Make a plan. Execute. Nobody ever gets to exactly where they think they should be without some risk. Start lining stuff up.
I’m feeling this right now, not the burnout, I just find my job boring and inconsequential and not challenging or mentally stimulating but the benefits are too good
