I'm trying to do a better job at this. Trying to feature more POC authors not only in my classroom but also in my leisure reading as well
Not yet but it’s in progress. I don’t have much from the traditional curriculum on my shelves.
In my classroom, YES. I’m proud of the mix of culturally relevant material and classics I currently have available. At home, no. I have a personal deep rooted interest in classic philosophy and canon of literature texts ranging from Wuthering Heights and Dracula to Tolstoy/Dostoevsky/existentialist authors. I don’t feel the need to justify my personal interests, but I do feel the need to present a wealth of culturally relevant texts to my students.
