Yeah I am in the same boat. When did the days start feeling so short? I swear I don't have time to take care of basic work tasks on top of all the emergencies that land on my desk everyday. I think I probably spend 4 hours a day doing actual work that is on my to-do list and the other 4 hours fielding calls and messages all day long
That's a good question! It's a challenge to quantify that because some conversations that seem to be a waste of time may turn out to have been quite productive. Or vice versa. And the amount of time spent on something does not always correlate to how productive it is. It's up to each of us to determine what constitutes focused work. I may spend the better part of an hour listening to someone, and in its own way that could be very productive.
Unfortunately, a huge portion of my day is reactive rather than proactive. I'm in the process of figuring out how to get better at being in control of my time, but it's tough. Sales feels like there are always fires to put out and urgent matters to attend to.

I would say maybe a fourth if I’m lucky.
