Our employees are happy? I think it’s time to do full 5 days RTO now.
To clarify, I’m not saying go in zero days. I’m saying 2-3 days is better.
My team, along with folks from other teams, used to have “work and lurk” where we’d spend time on Teams working at the same time - not necessarily on the same things - and be able to “work together.” we started it during the pandemic and just kept going until we were voluntold to return to offices 3x/week. It did help solidify relationships and helped newbies to gain the benefit of hanging out with coworkers to build relationships, too. I wish more remote companies would do that.
No can do, sorry our lords can’t ever lose money on any investments, especially stupid office real-estate investments. Can you imagine what will happen if their real estate investments only garner modest returns???/s
My two cents: Checking tasks off a list is a less-than-compelling argument for staff workers to continue remote. It was never just about the work itself, but also about the relationships. The arguments for maintaining and/or building those in a remote setting were never strong enough. People would be forced to show up at an office for an event and then go nuts over colleagues they hadn’t seen in years. Everyone was happy to be together. Management was taking notes.
Going in once in a while vs every day is not the same.
