It’s been about three months since a PE firm acquisition of my firm. Despite the partners promises that nothing would change I have noticed significant negative trends: layoffs, increased focus on costs, and increased requirements on job levels. I was wondering if some of you who are at firms further along in the PE journey might have any insights on whether things get better or worse?

My boyfriend's company just started layoffs. He's the last engineer standing on his team, but he's on the lookout for new opportunities just in case they decide to cut his entire department.

Earlier this year I was making $75k as an FA and now $90k as an SFA in OC which is pretty much market value (4yrs exp - 2 in B4). I wanted that raise to $90k for a while and now that I have it, I catch myself thinking about wanting more & more money, even though I have more than enough to live out my means. Anyone else think about this often? And how can I stop?

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.
